Pardoner's Tale

There is a song called Irony by Alanis Morissette. Irony is in life everywhere. It is in songs, movies, life and even books. Irony can be found during day and night far and wide it can be found in big and small, or even in poetry. The most common reference of irony in poetry is Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Another poem that shows a lot of irony is the Pardoner's Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer. In the Pardoner's Tale, Chaucer uses irony around every corner; for example death, dishonesty, and greed.
Death has irony around every corner which is commonly found in music and poems. In the Pardoner's Tale the three drunkards want to kill Death. This part of the tale shows several different interpretations of the irony of death. For example how the three men sought to kill Death but instead Death kills them. Another form of irony in death is how the men wanted to kill each other for the money instead of killing Death like they planned. A song thats shows irony in death is "Leaving on a jet plane" by John Denver.
Dishonesty is a ironic example in the Pardoner's Tale. Dishonesty is shown by the Pardoner himself and through the old man. The pardoner is dishonest to his customers by trying to sell them fake idles or other fake merchandise. The irony is he sells that stuff to "help" others to grow more Godly but in doing so he is tainting himself.  The old man shown dishonesty when he lied to the three men. The irony from that is he was accused of beings deaths collaborator. He said "no I am not but I seen death over there by that tree." in doing so it led them to their demise by death. That makes him a collaborator to their deaths. A excellent song with an fantastic guitar jam is Cause of Death by Obituary.
Greed is possibly the most noticed form of irony that takes place in the Pardoner's Tale. The pardoner himself is very greedy, so are the three men. The pardoner was really greedy and is always trying to gain more money out of those he can extort. The ironic part is he tills a whole tale on how being greedy is crooked and evil. The three men where greedy by trying to kill each other more money. This shows how ironic it is that they where all best friends then turned on each other because of the greediness they had for money.
Chaucer shows us how irony is much like sarcasm it can be funny, sad, infuriating, and painful. Irony was shown in the Chaucer's story through death, dishonesty and greed. The irony is said to be what makes Chaucer's stories so enjoyable. Chaucer's sarcasm or irony is much like what          Leopold Stokowsi once said "A painter paints his pictures on canvas, A poet writes his words on paper, But musicians paint their pictures and words on silence. we provide the music, and you provide the silence."

Themes of Hopes and Dreams

The Rolling Stones where correct when they played “You can’t always get what you want.” It is true how ever if you work hard enough any thing is possible. Usually you need to chase dreams build plans and never release hope. In Pygmalion this is a hidden theme, but just as true as ever. Identities of ones true self and of the characters is another major theme in the story.
Dreams are said to be a portal to your subconscious. With out dreams, plans, and hope humanity would be an empty husk. Dreams are one of the driving points of the creatures calling them selves humans. Dreams are important, with out them Eliza would have never striven to become what she had hoped to become. Plans are ideas put together to make something happen. With out plans Eliza would not have become the main character of the story she would have faded into the back ground and been forever forgotten. Thankfully she did have a plan. A plan to use her money that she earned to buy speech lesson so she could strive to become more productive. Hope is the most important of the three, because without it every one would have given up already. Eliza shows us that she had hope even after she thought about killing her self. She had thought there was not any thing else that she was qualified for, yet she found hope and lived her life to the fullest extent.
In Pygmalion, Shaw forces us to reflect what “I” means. Some characters wants to change who they are, while others want to stay the same. Some of the characters develops identities that change and grow. For instance how Mr. Dolittle changes visionally but stays the same internally. Shaw wanted us to ask what “I” really means about our self. He wanted us to see if we can actually change like Mr. Dolittle on the outside but same on the inside or more like Mrs. Higgins who changed on the inside over the years but same on the outside. Every day, every where, and every place people have identities. Peoples identities are always progressing into something new. Most people change to adapt to a better life. I changed from an lonely child with an speech impediment, who no one wanted to be friends with. I worked hard developed an identity, and fixed my speech impediment. I went from a loser with no friends to a pretty sociable person in high school. I created my identity by striving to try different thing so I would have more knowledge of stuff to talk about. I then would have an wider range of experiences to meet new people with similar interests.
In conclusion the themes of Pygmalion are just different intakes of peoples interpretation of the book. For instance my interpretation of the theme of identities, or my intake on the theme of dreams, plans, and hopes are my own. Some one else might see the theme of the transformation. Who knows, life just like music has infinite interpretations.

My Goals of Life (school project)

This blog will be about my goals after during senior year, seven years after, and my life goals.
I think immediately about all the basic goals that everyone one else wants to do. For example getting married and have kids with a nice house. Me on the other hand I am wanting a lot more adventure, action, and to travel. Almost like a James Bond movie. I want to be able to cackle at the sight of danger. thus procuring my future goals.
The first set of goals in senior year is to pass all my class so I can enlist with the U.S Army. I  desire to strut among the elite. Their is not much joy for me in school I just have to complete all my core classes then I am out. I didn't sign up for early release so I will have to make it through the bore. I have already talked to the recruiters and filled out the paper work.
The second set of goals of life seven years later is that I will go to Ranger school at Fort Bragg's Georgia to become a 32nd Airborne Ranger. This is my life's ambition. I'll end up doing major advanced training and going through jump school. I am going to try to take more personal skydiving and diving lessons. I will need to improve my stamina by ten fold.
On the third set of goals over all of my heroic life I will hope to be awarded the medal of honor. Retire have lots of kids and have a very loving passionate wife to come home too. I hope I will be able to watch my kids grow up after I am done with all my tours so I will have all the time in the world to spend with them. I will have traveled to Japan, England, France, Italy, Russia and every where else that is exotic. I will achieve these goals by working hard and knocking down obstacles like they are butter.
In conclusion I will be needing to study harder so I can enlist. I will be needing to train like never before. Then work harder than everyone else. When all else fails I Do Not. Rangers creed is "Rangers lead the way" and that is just what I will do while playing Highway to H*ll on my guitar till I reach my Goals.   HOORAH!!!
